The computer
system recognizes you only through your user-id and password. It is therefore
important that these are kept safe and not shared with anybody.
Remember -
·
Do
not share your passwords with anyone. If you suspect that a password has been
compromised, change it immediately.
·
Change
your password often to maintain the secrecy of password.
·
Avoid choosing passwords that are
obvious, such as your name, names of family members or pets, nicknames,
birthdays, and telephone numbers that might be easy for others to guess.
·
Always choose unique passwords that
include letters and numbers. Use longer passwords that have eight or more
characters and mix letters, numbers and special characters as they are much
more difficult to guess than shorter, more straightforward passwords.
·
Do
not use words or number patterns like Good123*, Aaabbb1*, 123123A* etc. as
passwords.
·
A good password must not have an
alphabetic sequence any longer than three (3) characters. Similarly a good
password must not have a digit sequence any longer than two (2) characters.
·
Choose
passwords that are not found in dictionary.
·
Do
not keep a written copy (in paper or electronic form) of password at places
where it can be easily located. If the password needs to be written down,
ensure that these are stored securely and are masked or scrambled (e.g. by
changing one or more characters of the password).
·
Do not use the same password
as the one which you use to login to your PC.
·
If you are accessing any
website from cyber cafe, any shared computer or from a computer other than that
of your own, change your passwords after such use from your own PC at workplace
or at house. It is very important to do so especially when you have entered
your transaction password from such shared computer or cyber cafe computer.
·
Create and maintain different
Internet Banking Login and Profile passwords. This provides additional security
for financial transactions done through Internet Banking.
·
Avoid using the same password
for multiple applications or Internet services. Use a unique password for each
application and purpose. In case you have more than one Internet Banking User
Id, use a different password for each of your Internet Banking User Ids.
·
Avoid using a password that
contains part of your User Id or account number.
·
Do not disclose your Internet
Banking passwords to anybody, not even to a bank employee.
· Do not provide user-id and passwords on any page popping up by clicking on a hyperlink received through email. Better practice is to log into the service by typing in the URL (i.e. http://www.onlinesbindore.com ) in the address bar.
· Do not let your computer remember your
password. Do not accept auto complete option provided by your computer/
browser.
